After trying for quite some time, Alki and I are happy to say we are PREGNANT!!

This Is Our Journey.
When Alki and I got engaged in 2009 we didn't use anything to protect against getting pregnant. We were both in love and happy and knew that if it happened it was meant to be, basically leaving it in God and a higher powers hands. Really, Alki wanted to have a baby since the day we first met, but I am more traditional in that sense and like the stages in life. I wanted to be engaged and then get married and then look forward to starting a family, I've always been that way, so after our wedding in May 2011 we have been trying to conceive. No, I wasn't watching my watch and running to the bedroom to bang like a crazy woman, but I did download an app on my iPhone that helped me keep track of when my menstrual cycle would begin and end and about when I would start to ovulate. We tried that for over a year and then when nothing happened, not even a close call in our 3.5 years together, we started to wonder if something was wrong. I told myself I would wait till I was 28 years old ( which will be Feb 2013 ) to go to a Dr and start the process of finding out what the "problem" was, but when I found out my close friend and co-worker Jill, (some of you may know her from Have Faith Swimgerie) was pregnant it really put some fire under my ass to see "why not me". I always left me getting pregnant to God and a higher power, believing it would happen when it was meant to happen, but if there is a problem, no matter how long you wait, you'll never conceive...

| The love of my life. |
Alki and I were out to dinner that week discussing how exciting it was for Jill and Chris to be expecting a baby and out of nowhere Alki asked me "so when are you going to go to the Dr ?" Just him asking me that made me really excited and nervous all at the same time knowing he was anxious to start a family. The next day I called up Southern California Reproductive Center which is a fertility center down the street from our house and made an appointment with Dr. Mark Surrey. A few of my friends have gone to this center and were super happy, and now I was ready to see what was going on with me.
Alki and I went in and met with Dr. Surrey. He was super nice and explained everything to us. They immediately started to do blood tests on both Alki and I, an internal ultrasound and took measurements of god knows what inside...I think my Follicles. I happened to go in at the perfect time- Day 2 of my cycle, and they were able to monitor my cycle, my hormones and my levels and see how I "developed". For those of you who don't know- day 1 in your cycle is the day you get your period, so I went to the Dr the day after and it was perfect timing because I didn't have to wait and entire month to get tests done.

After days and days in and out of the Dr's and being poked and pinched, they decided they wanted to book me in for a procedure called Hysterosalpingogram aka HSG. HSG is an X-ray procedure performed to determine whether the fallopian tubes are open and to see if the shape of the uterine cavity is normal. HSG is an outpatient procedure done when your period has ended but before you start to ovulate. Doesn't sound so bad right ? Well, during this procedure the Dr has to put a cannula or catheter into your cervix and then through that they push a liquid into your uterus and watch live on the X-ray machine to see if the "dye" gets stuck or flows freely through your fallopian tubes.
![]() |
| My room at SCRC |
My HSG Procedure Day- I was laying down in the room by myself as you would for a regular pap, the Dr came in, got me ready and then started to push the catheter into my cervix when all I hear him say is "it won't go in, its getting stuck". Now, the feeling is like a severe cramp in your uterus and hearing him say "it won't go in" freaked me out so much that the room began to get dark, I started to get hot, and all I remember saying to him and the nurse was " IM GOING TO PASS OUT"!
BOOM! Out for the count, butt ass naked, spread eagle , laying down with a catheter stuck in my cervix. Done!
I wake up to the nurse holding smelling salts in my face and an open door or nurses peeking in to see if everything was ok and the Dr holding my legs straight up in the air to force blood to my head.
Who passes out laying down anyway LOL.
I was sweating my ass off and completely forgot where I was. When I came to my senses I apologized and asked if the catheter was still in my cervix, the Dr said "yes", so I told him to proceed and that I was fine.
LOL I swear this happened, you can't make this shit up.
So finally I feel the dye going in, it gave me a slight cramp but at this point nothing I couldn't handle, and I watched the monitor along with my Dr and nurse. As the dye traveled through he explained what was going on. I saw the dye go through one side, then the other but then on one side it began to gather once it left my fallopian tube. Then he explains how my uterus looked a bit "abnormal" by the looks of this test and explained how I will have to get an MRI at a different facility to get a clear view of my uterus and its shape.
Mine looked more like a heart when it should look like a triangle to give you a visual.

| Breakfast the next day. Basically what my Uterus looked like... A Heart <3 |
So that Saturday Alki took me to a place near the house where they performed my MRI. This is a 30 minute procedure where an IV was put in my arm and in the last portion of the MRI contrast dye was pushed into my body so they can get a clear view of my uterus and its shape to see if there are any problems. The MRI didn't bother me even though it was SO loud. Alki was in the room and actually fell asleep lol. Having the IV in my arm for 30 minutes and having to hold it straight above my head the entire time was horrible however. Not to mention when they started to push the dye through the IV into my arm, OMG, it felt like a stream of water down my arm like a running faucet. It was the grossest feeling ever BUT, the results came back just fine and we were onto the next stage of our journey.
![]() |
| Picture of the MRI machine I was in for 30 minutes. |
Now it was Alki's turn to get looked at. The first day we went to the Dr's Alki gave blood to check his levels which all came back fine, but now it was time to test the baby makers!!! So , off Alki went all on his own to the Dr's to give a semen sample for a semen analysis. I totally thought he was the one that was going to be "the problem" because he is a vegetarian and I have read that soy can decrease your sperm count by millions (which is not proven btw), BUT funny enough, all of his tests came back perfect :( which meant the "problem" was me.
Somewhere along the way the Dr prescribed me a pill called Clomid which I took for 5 days. "Clomiphene aka Clomid is used to induce ovulation (egg production) in women who do not produce ova (eggs) but wish to become pregnant (infertility). Clomiphene is in a class of medications called ovulatory stimulants. It works similarly to estrogen, a female hormone that causes eggs to develop in the ovaries and be released." Later on in my cycle for 3 days I had a shot injected into my stomach called Bravelle. "Bravelle is used to stimulate egg maturation, and for multiple follicular development in women who are able to produce and release eggs (ovulate)." They couldn't diagnose me with anything as this was my first month and cycle going to them, however, every time I went in to the Dr's and they did an internal ultrasound they would measure my follicles which once mature would release an egg... and apparently I was slow at maturing. Maybe it's because I workout so much and produce more testosterone than estrogen .. Who knows. All I do know is my menstrual cycle was every 35-40 days instead of the normal 28 days which can come from being underweight or exercising a lot. This may or may not have played a part in me having trouble conceiving.
![]() |
| Clomid tablets I was on for 5 days. |
![]() |
| The Bravelle shot I had injected for 3 consecutive days. |
Now since Alki's results came back good, and I was responding great to the medicine they gave me to help me mature and develop normally, they gave us a task- we had to " have relations" as they said and then within an hr I had to make my way to the Dr's where they would swab the inside of my "area" and see under a microscope if the sperm can swim freely through me. Basically making sure we can conceive naturally without having to do artificial insemination. We found out we could conceive naturally so now it was all game.
Dr. Surrey suggested doing artificial insemination to ensure a better result but Alki and I talked it over and felt that it seemed a little "desperate" for us. This was our first month going to the Fertility Center and we really just wanted to diagnose the problem, not actually force a pregnancy. So we chose to give it a try the old natural way and see how it goes.
They gave me one last shot in the stomach called HCG. "HCG helps in the follicle maturation process and triggers the release of mature eggs from the follicles. Generally you will be given a medication to induce ovulation prior to taking the trigger shot. Medications like Clomid or HMG will help your ovaries to develop follicles for ovulation. The HCG trigger shot will then assist in the final maturation process and ensure that the mature eggs are released from your follicles." I know this sounds like so much but really they just helped me with what would naturally happen in a normal ovulating and developing woman.
I think the is the first stage for most woman experiencing problems conceiving. You start here and the last stage if no success I believe would be IVF- In Vitro Fertilization.
![]() |
| The family that does the kissy face together, stays together ;) LOL |
Alki and I then "practiced" naturally for the next few days as we normally would since I was for sure ovulating. Sperm can live in your body for approximately 4 to 5 days, and the egg can live for 24 to 48 hours after being released. You are most fertile on the day before and the day of ovulation and so far we had a good chance of conceiving!! It was an exciting and nervous feeling thinking that "this could be it". The Dr's told us to test in 2 weeks from the day I got the HCG shot and then if I did not conceive they would start the process over and be able to monitor to see whats not happening properly. Its really crazy how many things need to go just right for you to conceive. It makes you think about all those 16 and pregnant girls getting preggers left and right and then the tons of grown and married woman having trouble trying to start a family. Go figure.

I kept my fingers crossed it was true.

| My tests that I took later that day confirming I was PREGNANT!!!! SO EXCITED |
The next day I anxiously awaited the phone call from Dr. Surrey to confirm I was pregnant. I was in the car taking my girl friend Katherine to a Dr check up for her fresh boob job when my phone went off.
" Hi Jennifer, this is so and so at SCRC and we just wanted to let you know we got a strong positive on your pregnancy test so you are indeed pregnant, and we want to start you on prenatal vitamins right away ".... The best news of my life.

I always told myself I was going to wait to buy the 'What to Expect When Expecting' book for when I found out I was pregnant, and the day Dr. Surrey confirmed I was, Alki took me to the book shop in Beverly Hills and bought me my first pregnancy book. Ive been reading it everyday and it has really taught me so much.

My First Signs
The first signs of pregnancy for me was extreme tiredness, all I wanted to do was sleep. My nipples were super sensitive, and my skin started to break out like never before. I also started to feel a difference in my lower abdomen while doing regular ab exercises I would normally do. I remember working out my with trainer Lauren Kern and telling her " something just doesn't feel right, can we do a different exercise". I didn't think I would feel or see changes as fast as I did- but I am VERY in tune with my body. I also noticed I was sweating at the gym a lot more and getting really hot at night while I was sleeping.

| First signs of being pregnant- My skin got much worse than this |
So, now I am 2 months pregnant. I know I know, your " not suppose" to tell people you're preggers till the 2nd trimester (12 weeks) because its still high risk that something could go wrong, but the truth is- you can go full term and deliver a still born baby. Alki and I are so excited and I really wanted to share the experience with you. Far more pregnancies go through than miscarry and if it happened, something was not right and it was meant to happen. I go weekly for blood work and ultrasounds and everything is "excellent" according to my Dr. Im young, Im healthy and I know I'll be just fine.

| Me at 6 weeks. Call it whatever you want, but its baby related, so to me its my BABY BUMP! |
Currently
2 months preggers and I'm already feeling and seeing the changes in my body for weeks now. I'm feeling extremely tired. My boobs have been swollen for weeks already and have gotten bigger which scares me because I've had so many complications with my implants and the center of my cleavage lifting away from my breastbone, aka Symmastia. But , I'm staying positive and wearing wireless bras which are way more comfortable yet supportive. I also bought a medical bra called The Thong Bra which help hold down the center of your cleavage and also supports your breast. I also have had cold like symptoms and have been sneezing for the past 3 weeks. I have read this is also a symptom of pregnancy. I get Hot and Cold flashes all throughout the day. I have what they call "pregnancy brain" , like Bridal Brain, where you're forgetful. I'm sure there is more lol.

How Has Being Pregnant Changed My Life So Far.
Being pregnant has changed a lot in my life so far. I can't eat sushi which I LOVE, and I already don't eat meat- so I find myself struggling to find yummy protein foods. I also mentally am not used to eating as much as I should. My BMI is already underweight , and Im used to eating clean and working out 5 days a week. Just weeks ago I was down to 111 lbs and at 5'6 size 00 in jeans, thats pretty tiny. So getting myself to eat pasta, pizza, rice, cheese, bread- everything Im not use to eating has been a challenge but Im doing it all in moderation and know its for the good of my baby.![]() |
| Me, just a few weeks before we started the whole baby process. |
A Whole New World
I was told by a lady in Wholefoods that your body absorbs 65% of what you put in it... That made me really think about everything I was using, my shampoo, my condition, my lotion, nose spray, eye drops, tooth paste, lotion, perfume.... I went completely natural. I've taken all of the products I used on my face, hair and body, put it in a box and put it under my sink. I went to whole foods and bought all new organic and clean products. My motto is- if you're not sure, don't use it. Even my morning teas that I used to drink say "consult a Dr before drinking", or not to drink at all. So when in doubt, Im avoiding it. I have even taken time off from the gym. Even though my trainer Lauren Kern is certified to train pregnant woman, I just feel better waiting till I'm a little further along. I know this may be extreme but I have waited so long to start a family with Alki and this makes me feel good and at peace.
I keep Saltine crackers next to my bed because I have been suffering with insomnia for some reason. I read that its a symptom of pregnancy and some people suffer from it while others don't, but like clockwork every night 3am I am wide awake and starving. So I grab a few crackers, down some water and try to go back to sleep. I have also been drink warm/hot Milk right before I go to bed. Its helps me relax and sort of helps me sleep better. I also wake up every few hours to pee which is something every pregnant woman will complain about lol.
I went to the store, A Pea in a Pod, and bought these lotions and oils for my boobs and belly so I don't get stretch marks. Everyone on instagram and all of my friends who have had babies told me to start right away so your body absorbs the lotions and oils and will help it stretch and prevent stretch marks. So I have my morning and nightly regimen and I love that. I also bought a body pillow because I normally sleep with pillows in-between in legs anyway because my knees are bony and this one was 30% off at Pea in a Pod ! Alki tried it one night and loved it so I went out and bought him one as well and now we both sleep with pregnancy body pillows LOL.
I haven't done my nails since I found out I was pregnant either. I had to peel off my gel manicure because I didn't want to sit with acid tone to take them off and I haven't applied any tanning lotions to my skin. I may start to do regular manicures once I'm in my second trimester, but I am going to look for nail polish with less harsh chemicals.

This coming Wednesday I go back to SCRC to see Dr. Surrey for my 9 week Ultrasound and I cannot wait to see and hear the baby's heart beat. Dr. Surrey told me "next week is a big week" and Im super excited to see how the baby is doing and how much it has grown from 2 weeks ago.
It makes me really excited and happy on a different level seeing how excited Alki is about being pregnant. He gets into bed and rubs my belly and tells me how its a miracle and how this is "our baby". He's so gentle, emotional and excited, its a side of him that reminds me why we fell in love and being able to share this gift with the man that I love, and having it be 50 me 50 him is one of the most amazing feelings in the world. I am truly so grateful for this blessing.

What Baby Names Do We Have Picked Out.
I'm looking forward to finding out what the baby is and we already have the names all picked out. I think the Doctors can tell as early as 13 weeks but can't confirm till 15 or 16 weeks I believe. I will definitely be finding out and it will be right around Christmas time :) What a great present!
I have always LOVED names that end is vowels, especially A's.
If the baby is a girl- which I hope it is because my husband already has 2 boys and I think it would be so special for him to have a little girl- her name will be Gianna and we will call her Gia for short, very Italian I know ;)
If the baby is a boy it will be named- Nikolas after my father and his middle name will be Alkiviades after Alki, and we will call him Niko for short. Greek :)
Of course we just want a happy and healthy baby at the end of the day but its still fun to think and dream about your baby :)
Alki and I have decided to have the baby in London so it will have dual citizenship. We have decided to move to London for the year starting December of this year for multiple reasons, so being pregnant now actually worked out perfect! We already have a house there and will split out time between London, Switzerland and Greece after the baby is born. Im looking forward to having a break from LA and being able to bond better with Alki's side of the family, including his boys who live in London with their mother. They are so excited to have another sibling on the way and it's important to me for them to be and feel involved. We are keeping our house and cars and everything here in California and will be back next year.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Its very personal but we are very excited and I will try to do weekly updates with pictures and news. Any advice Moms or Mommies to be can share with me is greatly appreciated.
Next week Ill do an update with a new Ultrasound pic and compare the past few weeks :)
xoxo
Jennifer
PS- someone made a comment about my quote where I say "Future Milf" and criticizing me for calling myself that. To me, its not a bad thing. Just because I will be a mom does not mean I will not be sexy, desirable, or let myself go. If you don't consider yourself a Milf, thats fine. But I am a future Milf and look forward to the day where I can officially say I AM A MILF!!!!!!!!!!! Ill even sport the T-shirt. Stop taking yourself and life so seriously,Smile and have a little fun!

| Me trying the ring test |
Like I said above, My good friend and employee at Have Faith Swimgerie , Jill, is also pregnant. She is 2 months ahead of me and we are so excited to be pregnant together. She has had a rough 4 months with morning sickness so I went to visit her a few times in Orange County. We decided to try this old wives method of predicting the gender of your baby, the " Ring Test " pictured above. Its just fun trying all these different things and having fun with it. We will see in a few more weeks what Im having. Link to the ring test - Ring Test Forum , How To !

Congratulations! You will make a wonderful mommy... baby is very lucky! Good luck with everything!
ReplyDeleteAlways an awesome blog!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the progression pics!
Jen, you look great! I'm glad this pregnancy has been a good experience for you so far. Can't wait to see the fabulous outfits you're going to put it in! Praying for you, Alki and the little one :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations :)
ReplyDeleteI loved reading this post and am really happy that you are getting your wish. I have already congratulated you on twitter, but I am so happy for you.
I went through a year of trying before discovering I had PCOS and was on Clomid for 2 months when I fell pregnant.
Being 23, I thought it would happen instantly for me, but low and behold - it doesn't work that way!
I also have implants (335cc) and whilst my belly is massive, it has no stretch marks but my breasts are covered in them unfortunately. I suppose because the skin had already stretched so much.
I am now 22 weeks and feel my baby kicking every day, in fact as I type this she is kicking. I did the ring test too and it said ‘girl’ and was correct!
Cannot wait to read more of your posts and see your maternity fashion. Good luck with the big move!

aww, i absolutely loved this post Jen!!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAwww congratulations Jen!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennifer for sharing such an intimate journey with all of us. I am so happy that you are finally pregnant and I wish you and Alki an exciting journey which lies ahead. I have always been worried that I may not be able to conceive easily like many women do because my mother had a lot of trouble conceiving me as well- I think like this because I'm very much like my mother and have most of the issues that she has had in her youth. I've always wondered what one can do to find out of they are fertile or infertile and your blog has been so comforting, and full of information which some of us might need one day. I can't wait for your mommy blogs and Pregnant-OOTD. Have a great time in London and embrace your pregnancy as much as you can (don't let the pregnancy turbulance *breast issues* bother you), I believe a women is the most beautiful when she is PREGNANT, which for you has proven to be true! Don't let the stress and rude comments of others put you down, you know who you are, your husband knows what you have between each other and no one matters except the people you love and the people that love you. This is going to be the best time of your life, so screw everyone else and enjoy all the moments with your hubby, can't wait to see baby Gia/Niko in 7 months time **YAYYY**
ReplyDeletePS. I love how you are so comfortable in your skin, you are def. a FUTURE MILF.

Hi Jen,
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to have a baby soon too, and this has been extremely helpful.
In regards to makeup lipstick, lipgloss? have you been using that? or are you planning to sticking to you know regular makeup brands i.e. YSL, Armani etc
I heard bare essentials has 100% natural lip products?
Please reply!!!!
xoxox
please let me know
Great question.
DeleteI haven't been wearing much makeup, other than concealer when I go out to cover up my breakouts.
I definitely don't want to cover my face with foundation that isn't natural. Ive gone this far already I will definitely find an organic and clean product to use when I need to. Mascara doesn't really matter but I need to do some research to find out what lines are out there. I know whole foods has a makeup line in their store but I don't know what its like. Will keep you posted :)
xx
Jennifer,
DeleteLook into the Josie Maran Cosmetic line. Organic and safe. Josie developed this line when she was pregnant with her first child. YOU WILL LOVE!
Congratulations to you and Alki! I recently found your blog and just love how down to earth you are. Can't wait to read more about your journey to motherhood!
ReplyDeleteAwww I am so happy for you! And I am glad you have switched to all natural products as well. Im an Esthetician and I blog about clean and eco beauty products and I am so glad you are bringing more awareness to it as well! I can't stand all the chemicals in everything these days. If you are looking for some natural makeup too, my favorite brands are RMS beauty, Vapour Organics, and W3ll people for mineral makeup! Can't wait to hear more of your baby progress!

This is such a great Post! I am very excited for you! This is the next process for me we are just starting to try. Reading about when you found out gave me goosebumps! Congrats! You are so honest I love it! xoxo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jennifer and David!! You both will be such awesome parents! Can't wait for your next post on your baby. It's very exciting.
ReplyDeleteHi! And congrats little momma! I follow you on IG and you are seriously the sweetest and most gorgeous woman on there! You will be an amazing mother!!! :D I pray you have a smooth pregnancy. I'm currently pregnant with my second baby, due June 2nd...so just ahead of you. I really look forward to watching and growing along with you! Can't wait for the next update!
ReplyDeleteawww congrats!!! So exciting !
DeleteWOAH That was a long, but detailed blog post. Regardless, many congratulations on the pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteI'm 26 and have had problems with my cycle (absent for 1 year), and as a result have been put on medication to regulate. I have this feeling though that when my time comes to starting a family, I think it's going to be problematic (gut feeling). But we shall see when I cross that bridge (gotta find a fella 1st, get hitched - I hold the same values as yourself, although I have nothing against those who don't).
Congrats again, and welcome to the UK . . . in January :).
Congratulations love<3 Your baby will be beautiful:) Remember, good things happen to good people and you are definitely one of them<33 I wish you the best!! Stay beautiful and fabulous! Love you<3
ReplyDeleteWow, I had no idea, you went through all this..then again, how..anyhow, congratz again!!! You´re gonna be a lovely mommi!!
ReplyDeletejezzdallasmakeup.blogspot.com
DO NOT USE BIO OIL OR PALMERS - they are full of chemicals!! Use a natural alternative like Kosmea Rose Hip Oil. Everyone I have recommended it to has not gotten one single stretch mark xx
ReplyDeleteReally.. I didn't even think about what is in them :(
DeleteIll do some research and look for the rose hip oil.
xoxo
Thanks for sharing
Congrats on the baby!! :) Pregnancy is full of surprises. I suggest you read Jenny McCarthy's "The Naked Truth About Pregnancy" to give you some good laughs. I am currently 7 months pregnant with my third child and I won't lie, pregnancy is an emotional rollercoaster but in the end, it's all worth it. I follow you on Instagram and I love reading your blog. You are amazing!
ReplyDeleteIm going to pick it up :) thanks for sharing <3
DeleteCongratulations Jennifer! I hope you enjoy your pregnancy and welcome to the mommy club!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jennifer and Alki! Thank you for sharing such a personal point in your life and for being so open and honest about it. This is such an amazing time in your life and I want to you wish you the best of luck.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to many more posts about your pregnancy and the arrival of your little one. Best of luck and I think it's awesome how comfortable you are in your skin!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!! Being a mom is the most amazing thing in the world!! Thank you for sharing your story and being so honest! I think it's awesome that you are so excited and I love the milf thing! Ha! I am a young first time mom too! Oh and the palmers coco butter totally worked for me, I would rub the body butter on first then a layer of the lotion and I never got one stretch mark. Can't wait to keep reading about your journey! xo

Congratulations! I think its so amazing how candid and real you are with your life, from plastic surgery to now how you became pregnant. I respect that SO much. I dont know you personally but I feel SO happy for you as I would a friend of my own.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I am also pregnant (38 weeks) and some things I would share are:
- I havent used any oils/lotions (I bought them all but just didnt use them) and so far I dont have 1 stretch mark. I would really say it depends from person to person what will happen with your body and what wont.
- I also believe its REALLY important how you care for yourself in the first 20 weeks. I have been a vegatarian for 6 years and once I became pregnant I decided to eat chicken. I do it for the baby because its important to get protein and I feel like I wasnt getting enough protein otherwise. Besides what you eat, and clearly you are eating REALLY healthy, I would definatly wait with the excercise. In my opinon I just felt the fetus is so fragile in the beginning weeks you should really take it easy on your body.
- Download all the pregnancy newsletters: BabyCenter, WhatToExpect, TheBump and Pregnancy.Com. The daily emails are really great.
- Besides "What To Expect When Your Expecting" I would buy the "Mayo Clinics Guide To A Healthy Pregnancy". I love that one as well.
- And my last and probably most important piece of advice would be to wait as long as you can to find out the babys gender. I went to a speciality ultra-sound place where you can pay to find out the sex because I was so anxious! They said the earliest they would take me would be 16 weeks. So I went ahead and booked my appointment exactly the day that I was turning 16 weeks. It took her 30 minutes to finally tell me I was having a boy. Well I went out that same day and bought all blue, even blue paint for the nursery. Then, on my 20 week Anatomy Scan at the doctors I found out I was actually having a GIRL !!!! I was so excited that I wasnt even mad that the first place was wrong. My doctor and the ultra-sound tech said the reason I got a false result was because girl parts can be swollen until the 18th week, making it appear as a small bump (which can look like a penis) on an ultra-sound. So my advice to you would be to wait atleast until 18 weeks so you can know FOR SURE! LOL. Unless of course you are having CVS or amniocentesis done, that is really the only way they would know that early.
Enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can, try to stay stress free and think happy thoughts for the little one. I hope nothing but the best for you. Please keep us updated and good luck girly :)
Thank you so much for sharing.
DeleteIve been contemplating eating chicken and turkey again for the baby's sake, Im just having hard time because I really felt at peace not eating meat, but I do wonder if IM getting enough protein for him/her. Im going to talk it over with my husband and my doctor. My only protein source this far has been dairy such as cheese and milk, eggs, bean burritos , tofu occasionally... Im getting nervous now.
Thank you for sharing. It's a lot to think about
I used to be a vegan, but I chilled out when I got pregnant. There are so many great principles behind veganism/vegetarianism, but over time I have adopted the opinion that meat is not wholly bad. Just stick to small portions from very pure sources. Most cultures in the world consume at least a small amount of meat once in a while... the only exceptions in the WHOLE world I am aware of are the Bishnoi, and Buddhist monks. Anyway, I feel a lot better now that I started consuming a little bit of meat. Everything in moderation!
DeleteOh and, I ate sushi during my first (and so far second) pregnancy. My doctor said it was ok too. Look up the standards required for sashimi grade fish... it is very strict and I think very safe.
From one milf to another, Congrats girl!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYaaay!! I follow you on instagram and love seeing your pregnancy DMP's and since I am due June 14, I am really looking forward to outfit ideas from you!! You are such a beautiful woman and, honestly, I am really glad that you are planning to downsize your implants someday. I have always been very small chested (even gaining weight doesn't really increase my cup size)... except for when I'm pregnant/nursing. Anyway, for the longest time I desperately wanted implants but the only solid reason that kept me from it was the uncertainty of how they would react when I got pregnant. Oh well, live and learn. I really hope that thong bra works for you! Fyi, when your milk comes in after the baby is born, your boobs are going to get MASSIVE. I don't know if there is anything you can do to prepare but I would DEF recommend talking to your doctor or whoever is an implant expert lol.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I know a lot of people swear by the oils and creams to prevent stretch marks, but just my two cents... I don't think they matter. I think it really comes down to your skin's natural resiliency. Of course, healthy diet and lifestyle are important, but lotions and potions probably not so much. I didn't do anything special with my first pregnancy, and I didn't get any stretch marks except for right around my belly piercing scar. Again, live and learn. I wish someone had told me!!! Lol. Even so, once my belly button shrank back down the scars are practically invisible.
You guys will do great and congratulations again!!!
Thanks so much Nicole for sharing. I already took my belly ring out a few weeks ago and pray i don't get stretch marks. My mom doesn't have any so I think Im good, but I still like "feeling" like Im helping to prevent them anyway LOL
DeleteBest of luck to you - how cool we are so close:)
xo
congratulations! I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy and know how scary but exciting a pregnancy can be! My doc told me to just enjoy it because the worrying only gets worse once they aren't inside your body anymore, and boy was he right! I now have a perfectly happy an healthy 7 month old. Enjoy every minute because it goes by faster than you can ever imagine! Ps. I invested in a Sonotrax Doppler so I could listen to his heartbeat whenever I needed reassurance or a smile;)
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Im totally going to look into the doppler. Sorry about your loss but so happy you have a beautiful baby now <3
DeleteThanks so much for sharing

CONGRATULAITON!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful post with us.May you have a healthy baby. I'll keep reading your post in future...
ReplyDeleteHave a healthy and beautiful day.

congrats !!!!!! am so happy for u and ur so excited i can feel it. HAVING A BABY IS TRULLY A JOY
ReplyDeleteSeeing that your diet will be in moderation, are you going to continue juicing? I wanted to know what you've gathered about juicing while pregnant because I recently read that it's not exactly the best thing to do for the baby.
ReplyDeleteI will have a fresh juice with a meal, but I will not have just juice for a meal. :)

Jennifer, congrats on this wonderful news! This will be a truly blessed child with such amazing parents such as yourself and Alki. I read your blogs and tweets all the time and truly admire how sweet and down to earth you are. You were lucky to have married such a wealthy man but you dont even see your wealth as a factor that defines you and i LOVE that.
ReplyDeleteA couple of things:
1. Take out your belly ring ASAP. Trust me, you will be horrified otherwise.
2. When going for the sonograms make sure you ask your doctor to point out all limbs of the baby. By law, doctors do not have to see it but it is imperative.
3. Cheese and Pizza and eating aLOT is not always good for your baby. Keep reading pregnancy books, they will offer tons of advice.
I couldnt be happier for you! You are a beautiful, amazing and admirable woman. I look forward to reading about your exciting journey!!!
With love from Forida... Jenna xoxo
Thanks so much Jenna. I just bought a pregnancy cook book to give me some idea of what to eat and I took out my belly ring weeks ago LOL.. AHH!!!
DeleteThanks for sharing xoxo
I enjoyed my two pregnancies...well the morning sickness not to much but I loved it. From the prenatal yoga to just taking care of the most precious cargo. I fully understand your natural and organic ways, a lot the stuff you post that you use, I have. I say only this..when I had a my first and her name is Gianna, My plan was to go natural and do it natural but when you're dealing with the contractions. I really wanted to enjoy my birth and be there to be apart of it and not be like those one women who are sweating up a storm and crying. Just not a good look for me. Both my daughter's came out fine, now 8 and 6. If I ever had a 3rd, I will know the gender cause for the two they were a surprise... but I would have the epidural because I want to be there through the last push. I also breastfed my oldest till 18 months and the second 22months. Girl, your a milf and damn I love that word. It's great going into school functions on point. Some moms forget about themselves, I was one of those moms but then I really found myself. Good Luck on your Amazing Journey, its amazing when you feel the first flutter to then the big movements.
ReplyDeleteAs an admire fan can't wait to see the progression.
Victoria
OMG I am for sure going to have an epidural. My mom didn't with me or my brother and had very easy labors but I don't think Ill be that lucky LOL. I too would rather be present than in pain.
DeleteThanks so much for sharing xxooxo

You will be a great mom!!! Congrats!!!! I used that coco buTter on my belly n boobs and did not get a single stretchmark!!! That is the best stuff ever!!! Also be sure to get a belly band as soon as you have the baby, your stomache will be flat as a board in weeks!! I have the same body as u was 110 pre baby and gained 55 lbs!! I worried about stretchmarks and pooch so much and always thought that vs models who gave birth and looked amazing after mustve had a tummy tuck, little did I know you can bounce back so easily!!! Breastfeeding is great for the baby and your body!!! I totally felt like an alien doing it though and could not believe the stuff your body can do. WeLl good luck and blessings. For you and la familigia!!!
ReplyDeleteUr going to be a great mommy/milf lol
ReplyDeleteWishing u a happy and healthy pregnancy and hopefully a baby girl :p
I have been waiting for this post for weeks since you've mentioned it on instagram. Pregnancy is a miracle and I'm so happy that you get to experience it! Thank you for letting people in on your struggles, even lite things like breaking out makes you normal and I appreciate it. Please keep us (people who admire you and enjoy listening to your life adventures) updated. There will always be people who only speak mean, never listen to them because it's easier to say something negative than to admit your jealous of someone's life. And it's a blessing to be able to call yourself a MILF!!! Haha
ReplyDeleteLove,
Nikki Stratelak (21, Michigan)
Congratulations Jennifer!! As a first time mom I know exactly how you feel especially about everything you put in or on your body during pregnancy. As for tips I'd say listen to people but trust your own judgement and instincts. You may not think you have them now but motherly instincts definitely kick in once baby is born. As for baby products, I would HIGHLY recommend you look into the Mustela line. They even have products for mom! My daughter has never had cradle cap, diaper rash, dry skin or eczema (which runs in the family) and she is 8 months now. I've never used anything else. Their items are even gentle enough that I was able to bathe her everyday since her umbilical cord fell out.
ReplyDeleteTry to capture or document everything during and after your pregnancy. Time flies and they grow so fast!
Congratulations again to you and Alki!
Thanks so much for sharing, I am going to look up that line.
Deletexoxo
Congratulations! I don't normally like to give advice to expectant mothers just because I think it can be a bit obnoxious, but may I recommend the Brewer Pregnancy diet? It has vegetarian options for getting protein and other things you may be having a hard time with. I hope you have a little girl! I can only imagine her closet.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, I am going to look it up. And I hope I have a little girl too... I already picture all the PINK and tutu's... LOL

Hey jennifet im really happy for you and alki. Just a fyi about some products your using. Just because its at whole foods doesnt mean its good. So as far as jason products they have sodium lauryl sulfoacetate if your pregnant you want to stay away from that. Whole foods carries harmonic shampoo and that shampoo is truly organic and you can drink it if you wanted to. I know weird but i saw the owner of the company do it. There is 100 percent pure that company sells organic body wash. Also the coco butter i forgot exactly what it had but i think its mineral oil, sls, and some other crap. Oh and if you want to get really picky toms toothpaste suck yiu want to stay away from flouride . There is another toothpaste i think its called all natural you can find it online drugstore. Its fluoride free all organic ingridients. Anyway have a great pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteOh man, Im going today to get a new shampoo LOL.. Thank you so much for looking out! I want to be as "clean" as I can be with the products Im using.

Congratulations Jennifer!!! You''ll be an amazing mom. My sister is also pregnant right now and she looks at all of your instagram pics and twitter feeds. She says you are her 'pregnancy inspiration' lol. You're going to have to take out your belly ring soon (sucks i know). She's having a son and left for London today to have him in February so he will have dual citizenship as well (funny how similar). Anyways, all the best to you and Alki. I hope you can find the time to post more often lol.
ReplyDeleteLots of Love.
AWWW How cool!!!!! I took the belly ring out weeks ago, I got nervous everyone yelled at me on twitter and IG. Tell her congrats from me.
Deletexoxoxo
Congratulations on your little blessing :)
ReplyDeleteThere's a nail polish called Piggy Paint. It's water based, hypoallergenic, and odorless! You can visit their website to find a retailer near you.
Best of luck with everything! Oh and if you start getting nauseous, try the ginger candys and tea from whole foods! Definitely helped me through the first few months!
Thanks so much for sharing, Im going to look up that nail polish asap.

Wow Jennifer this post was so beautiful and made me smile for you and your husband. What a beautiful miracle and blessing you have and it is so wonderful being able to read about your journey. Children will always be the light in your life no matter what, from your blog I can tell you what an absolutely beautiful, strong, smart, funny, loving mother you will be to your child. God bless you in your journey and cherish these moments.
ReplyDeleteThis post is amazing, you did a really great job and put so much energy in it. When i read how you told alki that you may be pregnant i almost cried. Congrats and all the best for you guys. Cant wait to read all about your experiences. Sorry for my english, i am from germany.

Congratulations! Read and loved this entire post, love that you were genuine and honest about your journey. I would be so excited to move/live in Europe for a year, that sounds like an adventure!
ReplyDeleteI have been blog stalking you for a while and through your posts it feels like I know you like I know my BFF. I'm so happy for you and your DH. Congratulations and thank you sooo much for being so real.

Huge congratulations! Enjoy every minute because it goes so fast! My little boy Milan is 2 in Feb and the time has just flown by... So exciting that you're moving to London, when you get here you have to check out Boots, they have a great mummy-to-be range (skin care) and I guess the equivalent to Whole Foods is maybe Holland and Barett they do all natural foods and supplements. I found when I had some morning sickness that their natural ginger tablets were amazing. So worth having a look in there when you arrive. Having a baby is life changing and I'm not going to lie, the hardest job I've ever had! But so amazing and rewarding. Congrats again xxx
ReplyDeleteIm so excited to go to London. ALittle nervous about the flight- I don't want to have any complications, but I think Ill be ok.
DeleteThanks for sharing some of the stores.. I do love boots LOL.
xoxo
OMG! I am so happy!!!!!! :) Congratulations. :) Alki will be a good father. Such a beautiful mom you are. :)
ReplyDeleteDear Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI am very glad for you. I wish good health to you and your baby! I am also expecting a baby. ) It is the 40th week of pregnancy. So, any day I can give birth.
Jennifer, I would like to advise you to eat well now, because after you will surely get back your former size, but it is obligatory to eat well!!! Concerning sport, you should be very careful, it is not always good for a pregnant woman. I was going in for yoga and now my baby's neck is entangled with umbilical cord.. ((( It is very dangerous for a baby. And , please, before going to London, consult with a doctor. When I was flying by airplane , I had a very strong spasm and my husband had to give me an injection! Go for a walk, swim more.. that is really good. I believe, everything will be good to you!!! I wish you a lot of healthy children.
Best regards from Russia. Evgenia
Thank you so much. I have 2 dr apt next week to check me out and make sure Ill be ok to Fly. I hope it will be ok :(
DeleteThanks for sharing. I want to do prenatal pilates once I'm in my 2nd trimester to keep my tone.
Best of luck to you xoxooxxo
Congrats! You will make a wonderful mum :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! Just curious, how much do you weigh now? I am the same height as you but 125 and hope to get down to 110. I'm NOT pregnant though lol.
ReplyDeleteJennifer, you and Alki are so blessed!!! I'm happy for you and wishing you all the best in the world!
ReplyDeleteThe names you picked are perfect, Gianna (Stano) David sounds very unique, I'm almost sure you'll have a little girl. ;)

Congratulations! This story really touched me and gave me hope. My husband and I are going to go see a specialist as we have been trying to conceive for years. I pray you have a smooth, enjoyable and stress free pregnancy :) I look forward to following you on this wonderful journey.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Natalia, sending you lots of positive thoughts :-) xx
DeleteCongratulations Jennifer!! Just curious: did you get pregnant in Greece? Because I saw your pictures in Greece and I thought: "She's pregnant", I have two girls and I thought I saw "something" in your eyes, that special glow of sweetness all moms get when they're pregnant... Or am I a future teller without knowing? LOL :)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this post, thank you for sharing so much! I have to wish you guys the best of luck and that you will have an "easy" pregnancy, both mines I have been sick the entire pregnancies :( But all of that 18 months of suffering it was all worth it! To have kids are just amazing and you´ll love it! My friend just went through that same process you did and she actually passed out in the chair with the blue liquid as well! It seems terrible...
ReplyDeleteI wanted to give you a couple advise I wish I had known. You have to make sure you go to a photographer and photograph your belly and take as many pictures as possible :) You will regret otherwise later on...
The baby wash (soap) is great for moms as well! I use it as a face wash to remove my make up and also using it as an intimate soap because of its mildness.
Im really glad that you are planning to breastfeed. WHO recommends 24 months breastfeeding, I was only able to do it for 18 months but my daughter is SO healthy and strong. I know that in America most ppl dont breastfeed for long or many dont even breastfeed at all, but it is actually great and you can feed the baby in bed at night whiles sleeping not having to go up and warm a bottle... The breasts will not get ruined depending of the amount of time you breastfeed, its actually more depending on the pregnancy. Ive also breastfead with and without implants and there is no difference...
I would also recommend you to make a hand and footprint of the newborn, Ive gotten mine from here http://www.lifestone.com/uk/ and its one of my most precious belongings. You have to order the clay for the prints and later send it back to them and you will get the real prints back after a couple of weeks. They also make the prints in jewelery :)
Since you are moving to London, if you need a baby or mommie photographer I would love to shoot :) You can find my work in the portfolio at newborncupcake.com
Ps, I adore your Celine bag!
Thank you so much for all the information you gave me. I will definitely be photographing my belly and happy to know you are a photog :) Going to check out your site now :)
DeleteThanks again

This is beautiful Jen ! I hope you have a beautiful pregancy ! Make sure you wrap up, it is freezing in the UK at the moment. Dx
ReplyDeletecongratulations!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAND BE CAREFUL WITH FLYING.
I lost one baby after a lot of flying.
best wishes!!!
oh no.. Im just making one trip to london from LA and was planning switzerland for xmas.. How far along were you ???
DeleteListen Jen, you'll be fine. As long as your pregnancy is low risk there is no reason you shouldn't fly. I went on holiday at 8 weeks and apart from being a little uncomfortable (as I would have been if I wasn't flying) I was fine. Try not to stress and you and baby will be grand! x
DeleteI'm so happy for you! So nice of you to share your story with us. You have the biggest heart and you will be such a great mum!!! :) <3 And so funny to be pregnant and have a baby so close to your friend! Amazing! Looking forward to see all you "baby" updates and also your "baby" fashion style!!! Lots of Love and all the best whises to you guys!!!

My husband and I got married October 2011 and we have been trying to get pregnant since, and like you never prevented before we were even really trying. I am about to start my 4th round of clomid. My husband and I have decided not to wait and try 6 cycles so if after this cycle we are still not pregnant we will start to explore IVF. I am so happy to see someone with a similar background succeed! Good luck with your pregnancy!!
ReplyDeleteaww good luck with everything.. Stay positive and manifest having a baby and being pregnant.. It helped me I believe.
Deletexoxo
I agree with Jennifer here, I constantly visualised being pregnant and holding my child in my arms. Positive thinking has great power, just keep believing! x
DeleteCongratulations! I'm so happy for you two...
ReplyDeleteI love how you are so open and comfortable talking about all that you've been trough, this could help a lot for all the women out there who just sit and wait something to happen instead go see the doctor and fix the problem, if there is any.
You took good care of your body, and even now you take care of what you do or eat or put on your skin, so everything should be just fine...
I wish you the very best, and can't wait for you to post the first baby picture here, I'm sure she/he will be beautiful as you are...
Congrats, Jennifer!!!! Please tell, if doctors found out a proble why you could not become pregnant? And what exactly medicine helped you?! Thanks! Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, May the coming child fill your life with love and happiness. All the very best to you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I remember when I got pregnant for the first time.. I was so happy and read all the magazines and books I got, and then it didn't work out, I got to the 6th week.. now we've been trying for almost 4 years and done 1 IVF and 1 FET, none of them worked.. I'm happy for others who succeed, and I'm nearly crying and hoping this works out for you the whole way and you get a beautiful cute baby..
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from Sweden
aww :( Im so sorry for your loss. Im sure it will work out. stay positive, I know its so hard. Have you looked into other options?
DeleteThank you. Yes I'm trying to stay positive, but sometimes it gets really tough, but I'm ok :) there are just some days when one just needs to cry because of all of the difficulties. Yes we've been thinking about adoption, but I'm afraid I'd just never accept it and never get the maternal feelings you naturally get when you're expecting. Here in Sweden we don't do the same tests as you do, they've never looked into if the sperm actually can swim where it should be able to swim and such.. meh, makes me feel like I live in the wrong place.
DeleteI can't wait to see the baby, if you want to show us :)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
ReplyDeleteI pray for you and your baby's health. Enjoy becoming a mother!
Also... If you're looking for all-natural products for basically EVERYTHING (AND they're amazing!) try LUSH Cosmetics! They are all handmade, organic and Animal-Free Testing.. So organic that some of the stuff you have to keep in the refrigerator, but the products are all so good for you, without any chemicals. Here's their link: http://www.lushusa.com/A-LUSH-Life/about-us,en_US,pg.html
ReplyDeleteGood luck, again.. So excited for your future posts! Xx
Correction: Lush is NOT 100% organic! They actually use very little organic stuff overall. And they use all sorts of chemicals, amongst them parabenes. I love their stuff, but am pretty clear about what they can and can't deliver. People have a lot of misconceptions about what constitutes organic!!!!
DeleteOMG!!!! Jen CONGRATS!!!!!! I'm so happy for both of you!!!! :))))
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for all your kind comments. Im so excited and having all your positive vibes and wishes is so encouraging. Thank you again xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou have such a way to connect with your readers! You and Alki are beautiful together, so loving, fun, and the list goes on. You really speak to your readers and we all can feel that sincerity in your tone. I wish you all the best with your pregnancy (the first of maybe two or three pregnancies to come :)----When I am with my husband I feel the same love and passion so I know and can recognize that your life and love is real so please do not let the haters get to you. Some people just have so much jealousy and hate in themselves that they take it out on other people to avoid dealing with their issues. God bless you and your growing family.
DeleteI took your advice with Isagenix but the weight loss I did not see really maybe three pounds and I followed it without substitutions? Any suggestions?
I also visited Jayne Wallace when she came to LA and not only is she a sweetheart but spot on!
Thank you Jennifer,
Chuteek-Instagram name
Congratulations! So happy for the both of you!
ReplyDeleteI also went all natural with skincare best line that i found junk chemical free and really zapped my acne was Arcona its based out of LA.
And the best shampoo free of chemicals is Unite. Best shampoo ever!
Saltine crackers (without salt) can be your best friend when the morning sickness and/or heartburn starts. Keep some next to your bed and eat a few before you get up. Make Alki give you lots of back and foot rubs. Your ankles are going to explode!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a comfortable pregnancy, an easy delivery, and a healthy baby.
Sooo excited for you and Alki! Babies are wonderful! :D Can't wait for you to be here in England for a while! You will love it! Although it is bloody freezing atm! You should definitely try to explore outside of London while you are here (Oxford, only because I'm here ahaha)! Have you seen Jessica Alba's baby range called 'honest' which does diapers and all baby products and cleaning products that are all natural and non-chemical! She didn't want to have her children using chemical products so look in to that! The designs are really cute too, little diapers with prints on for girls and boys! :) Best wishes! Laura x
ReplyDeletePregnancy is a beautiful time in your life. Just knowing and feeling a life growing inside of you is a wonderful feeling. I'm so happy you are in a good place. God Bless u! Sending hugs and kisses from New York! Anne. Victoria and Alexa
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jen & Alki. Such a blessing. I wish you a very healthy pregnancy & delivery of your precious little angel. Please blog & post while you are in London. I love following you. I can't wait until I become preggers too. My hubby and I are trying. Much love, Lisa
ReplyDeleteHi Congratulations.. That is great news. The best stretch mark oil is from Clarins - Body Tonic. That stuff is amazing!
ReplyDeleteSafy
Congratulations Jennifer! :))) I wish all the best to you and your baby! :)
ReplyDeletehttp://angellovely-things.blogspot.cz
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! I also have a heart shaped uterus. I had a uterine septum, but mine wasn't to the extreme as some others. I had some minor bleeding complications around 8-12 weeks which I was on bed rest. I delivered C-section due to him being breach. Which they said was partly because he stayed in the same area. I was full term and delivered a healthy baby. I would pick up "Belly Laughs" by Jenny McCarthy for your trip to London. It's a good read. I also did a lot of prenatal yoga which helped a lot with breathing as I thought I would be delivering naturally. Although it did help with calming my nerves being awake during my procedure of delivery. I also have 425cc and after my milk came in I swore I looked like a porn star with my implants. It hurt so bad!! I would suggest a good lactation nurse because the best thing to relive the pain and clear your milk ducks will be your little one. I was lucky enough not to get any stretch marks after blowing up. I just used the typical cocoa butter for stretch marks all over from day one! Make sure you take pictures month to month!! It's so great to see the difference in your size each month!! Good luck!! I hope you have an easy and healthy pregnancy!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is an old wives tale that 'baby girls steal your beauty'. You are gorgeous, but your acne could mean something! Keep having fun through such a wonderful journey!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer for going through all this honest documentary of your journey. Its very giving and your fans appreciate it!! :) It makes you realize even the "perfect" couple needs to put effort into conceiving but if you try your hardest your hard work may eventually be rewarded! I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy!! Thanks for sharing <3
ReplyDeleteCongrats Jen! I'm so happy for you! But I have one thought....In fact your perfect body put you in some awful possision-you could't got pregnant:( Maybe woman should diet all the time...healthy lifestyle, exercise offcourse, but givin up meat, sweets, carbs, girls want to be soooo skinny right now. Maybe girls need some fat...in old times man lookes for woman with big hips because the instinc told them they will be a good mother...I don't know....I'm not so good in english...I'm from Poland. But do you see a paradoks/joke?? You look perfect, live healthy and you couldn't get pregnant because of that??
ReplyDeleteHello Jen, huge congrats on your pregnancy. jUst a comment- I remember you once said in a blog post that you were taking spironolactone for your skin, it's super important you Re not taking it during your pregnancy though. Can I ask what dose you were taking and if you saw an improvement or any side effects? Thanks
ReplyDeletebest wishes Jennifer and Alki....good luck :-)
ReplyDeleteAwww congratulations Jennifer..you will be great and very beautiful mum.I am really happy for you and Alki.
ReplyDeleteAll the best from Ireland
Jennifer!Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for always being so open and honest. Being a true NYC girl myself, I appreciate and can relate to your posts and am glad that nothing has changed who you really are through everything. Keep them coming and wish you and Alki the best through this journey!
Hello Jennifer. Congratulation for the pregnancy I follow you in instagram. Only I tell you that you are adorable, you detach happiness. You seem to me to be very nearby telling everything about your life. Thanks a lot to be there. A big hug and best regards from de sunny Spain.
ReplyDeletePlease could you follow my blog ms-hollygolightly.blogspot.com It could be a big illusion and present for me.
Oh this made me so happy to read CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I TTC for two years, I ended up doing ivf and had twin boys then fell pg naturally with the third 4 years latter. Its the hardest thing ever waiting for your turn, but I swear it makes you appreciate the miracle all that much more. You will look so cute with a little bump. Cant wait to follow your journey. Elesha
ReplyDeleteHi Jen! Congrats on your pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteI have a little 9-month-old heartbreaker growing up at home and I tell you every day is a true blessing and full of joy and laughter :)
I am a fashionista like you and what you said about being a milf is so true! You still have to look hot when being a mommy.
I did pregnant shaping while expecting and it really helped me being in shape and the delivery was much easier.
Check out my blog http://www.kristjaana.com for pregnancy updates, raising a little baby and lots of fashion!
All the best!

Eat lots of broccoli, it's filled with protein. A third cup of broccoli has more protein than a steak. Been vegan for over a year and had to learn all of this for my sake as well as for the people who always bother us vegs about protein and our life choices. The lady who wrote Skinny Bitch, Kim Barnouin, also wrote a book for pregnant vegs, I highly suggest you check her out (she has a website and tons of product and lifestyle advice that is clean. She's vegan not that it matters, but unless you're consuming hormone-free organic dairy, I would stay away from it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer, for sharing your experience. I appreciate your honesty, sense of humor, and insights. Your post is very helpful for women out there who are trying to get pregnant:))
ReplyDeleteCongrats to both of you! Thank you for sharing all this.
ReplyDeleteHi! I am from Estonia (Europe) and I have been following your blog for quite some time now. Sorry for my incorrect typing by the way!
ReplyDeleteI read yor last blog about the pregnancy and I just had to give some feedback.
Me and my boyfriend (we are not married yet) we have been together for 9 years in march 2013, I am going to be 25 and he is going to be 30 soon. For the last year we have been trying to get pregnant and my cycle was just about the same as yours. After giving up on pills it was 40 to 45 days...too long to conceive. SO my doctor told that I was not ovulating and described my Clomid as well. She told me that you should get pregnant in 6 months, if not, then it doesn't work for you and we have to try something else (IVF). I was sad and I had no hope...having a baby was my biggest dream at that time. Luckily I got pregnant with the first month on clomid! SOOOO HAPPPPYYY. Now I am on my 21st week and next wednesday we are going to find out if it is a boy or a girl.
I also have breast implants like you do, and I can say that they are quite big by now. It was one of the first signs when i started to get suspicious of being pregnant. I was on a trip and couldn't take a test before coming back to Estonia after 2 weeks.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I know what you are going through and wanted to share my experience, whick is similar to yours.
Good luck to you. Hope to read more about your pregnancy soon
Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm thinking that your acne might actually be a symptom of detox more than pregnancy related since you said you switched to all natural products for your skin and hair as soon as you found out you were pregnant! I remember when I switched to all organic stuff that I broke out like crazy, but it cleared up later and my skin became amazing! So, look forward to that soon, lol.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate it that you are frank about being underweight and that being related to not conceiving for so long! So many people only ever talk about how unhealthy and dangerous obesity is, but the truth is, being underweight also brings health issues - we simply don't want to see them because being skinny is everything today!
Something confused me about your post though... You talk about eating more/better for the baby, and then you talk about pizza and other not very healthy foods?!? A baby doesn't need pasta and pizza, it needs wholefood grains that give you as a mom to be lots of energy and fibre. Try eating high quality grains like quinoa (also has tons of nutrients and even protein!), millet, buckwheat (makes awesome pancakes!) and see how good you and baby will feel!!!
I wish you the best of luck!
Oh, I forgot to add something about skincare: you HAVE to try Dr. Hauschka skincare, especially if you are suffering from acne right now! Try their amazing Toner, the one for blemished skin, and they also make this awesome serum that comes in little ampules (I don't know what it's called in English, but you'll know what I mean when you see it) and you use it for a month every day. It will make your acne go away in no time, promised!!!
ReplyDeleteJennifer i am so happy your pregnant, its so vicious that so many teenage girls get pregnant and have an abortion and women like you married and wanting a baby have a harder time; I cant wait for your baby to come
ReplyDeleteCongratulation Jennifer ... I think you will be The Great Mommy. Best regards from Lublin, Poland.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you and Alki, all the best and grats babe
ReplyDeleteCongrtulations! I've been following your blog for a year or so, and I'm so happy for you and Ali! best of luck in everything, and thank you for sharing your journey with us! one Love. Stephanie
ReplyDeleteCongrats! What a lovely post and all the tips about organic products were great. I'm looking for more organic and healthy products to use aswell just because they are better for your body :) You should look for a brand called 100% pure, they have a 100% pure argan oil thats 100000 times better than the silcone stuffed morrocan oil. Wholefoods in London also have a great selection of different eco products, Giovanni hair care products is also great and natural. I dont know if you still use the eye lash growing products you wrote about before, but all of them are really dangerous! I wrote a blog post about it here and why they are dangerous (the blog has a google translate button) :) http://www.louiseadolphson.se/?p=12849
ReplyDeleteBtw good name choice for the a boy, its a pretty name, my bf is greek and he's name is niko lol :P
Greetings from London :) / Louise
Very nice post!! :)
ReplyDeleteCan you do a make up video for pre-christmas party?:)<3

ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer. Thank you for sharing your story. Congratulations to you & your Hubby!! Wishing you a smooth pregnancy & healthy baby!! Next year me & my Hubby will be planning as well so your story was very informative! I never realized that the body absorbs 65% of products we use, WOW! Very good to know so I can make the adjustments when the time comes =) Best Wishes!
ReplyDeleteHi... Total shot in the dark because you are probably way to busy for me ( i mean that in a good way) first of and MOST important of all... CONGRATULAZIONI to both you and your husband on your pregnancy! it's so inspiriting to see good things happen to good people. Again i won't be offended if you dont answer! I kno your move to London must be crazy (i lived there for 7 year - im from milan, moved to London and then NYC now im a reformed wild child living in NJ with the man of my dreams) anyhow.... I wanted to know how you did your makeup for your wedding! It looks like you are barely wearing anything and that's the look i want! Getting married in Spet. 2013. Congratulations again to you and your husband! u remind me of me and my fiancé always kidding around!
ReplyDeleteOk... totally annoying girl here lol. try Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner instead of Dickinson Witch Hazel. I'm telling you hands down hundred times better. you will love it!
ReplyDeleteWow Amazing thanks for sharing :) so happy and I know you'll be a total MILF (:
ReplyDeleteOne thing ill like to mention is how are you doing nutritional wise ? You don't have to pay attention to me but maybe consider Herbalife :)

ReplyDeleteHey Jennifer! Conratulations to you & Alki! My roommate and I love you and were both ecstatic to learn you are preggers! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us! we are looking forward to more pics and posts from you!
ReplyDeletep.s. I saw that you are looking for a nail polish that is all natural, and I don't know if you have heard of this yet but there is one that is 100% organic. The brand is spa ritual. They have a ton of gorgeous colors as well as nail strengtheners, etc..
Hope you are well!!
Thank you again!!!
My mother in law would always tell me, "Melinda you dont even understand right now how much love you are going to feel, you think you do but until you are holding your baby, you will have no idea" and I was like "I can imagine" and she said "nope you cant, you will see what I mean" Well after I held my baby in my arms, I realized she was SO RIGHT!!!! I had no idea!!!! it is the most amazing, overwhelming feeling of LOVE that I could not even have imagined!!!! I cant even explain it, my babies are 9 and 5 now, and they are my whole life!! everything you ever thought mattered before doesn't anymore! You want to give them the world, but then you dont because you want them to learn it, you worry everyday if you are raising them the right way, you get all these anxieties that you never had before about keeping them safe and what if you couldnt????? you feel so many emotions and so much love, even when your angry you feel this overwhelming love!!!! I have friends that have no children and they dont want children because they dont want their fun lives to end, and after your home and getting use to your new life, you may feel that to, cause I did, I got really bad post partum and thought what have we done? We are responsible for a human life!! can we do this? and panic attacks started and mentally I was so afraid! but me and my husband made a decision that we were going to still live life and go to dinner and vacations and take our kids right along with us! after the first year , I finally, knew this was right and things felt normal again, and now I feel like us four, Me, my husband and our babies are unstopable!! I tell those friends now they are missing out!! we still do everything we did before with our kids and if its something our kids cant go do, we find a babysitter! but by those friends choosing not to have children makes me feel sad that they are not going to experience this level of love that I couldnt even imagine existed!!! I am so happy for you and just remember, that it is totally normal afterwards to feel anxiety and scared feelings and wondering if your life will ever feel normal again, because it does I promise! and when it does you and your little clan will feel unstopable!!!

Firstly CONGRATULATIONS! CONGRATULATIONS! CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy for you both, I left a comment way back in the Summer of you and Alki's love story about how I was also trying to conceive and how I couldn't wait for the moment both of us shared our news we were going to be Mums. Wellll I'm now also pregnant! I'm a little ahead at 16 weeks and feel fantastic, I've been very lucky and had no sickness at all. I get headaches, backache and the odd twinge here and there from my uterus stretching but every little symptom reminds me of my little cub growing inside me. Like you I didn't have a typical 28 cycle, mine was around 32 and it took over a year and a half to get pregnant. I know that's nothing for some people but each month was so disappointing. Testing each day for ovulation, taking temps etc as I'm British it was hard even getting my doc to give advice and I pushed to see a gynae as I don't have private healthcare I didn't have access. Anyway basically I gave myself one last month of 'trying' it was tiring and draining each month and on that last month I also had bloods taken. My hormone levels came back 'abnormal' my doc was as useless as ever so I did a little google research and it pointed to me being pregnant. I tested that day and immediately burst into tears when I seen the result, it was the happiest moment of my life. I ran downstairs to my partner and even he was scared to get excited. We told immediate family but waited 13 weeks until we went public. My first ultrasound was at 9 weeks and it was nerve-wrecking seeing its little heartbeat flashing away and its little arms waving was beyond cute! I had another ultrasound at 13 weeks and the difference was crazy it was flailing around like it was climbing a mountain lol. My next scan is at 20 weeks when I find out the sex and right now I can feel little bubbles bursting, kind of like popcorn popping which is th first movements! Don't expect kick like feelings at first! My heart still aches for couples trying to conceive and anyone struggling I send good wishes, and to other Mummies to be high-five! I can't wait to meet our little baby but I also want to enjoy every moment of my pregnancy, I have a little bump but its more food baby than baby bump lol. I can't wait to look properly pregnant rather than looking like I've put on weight. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smooth Jennifer and hope Alki tends to you well :-) My other half is so protective and more affectionate I feel like we've fell in love all over again it makes you look at your partner differently knowing you've created a little life together :-) ♥ (PS. Pack well for London, I live in the UK and it is FREEZING!)
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer! Congratulations on your baby news! I want to send over a personal email to you, how can I contact you via email? Thank you in advance!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer! Congratulations!! I enjoyed reading your blog post, like you i had a hard time getting pregnant as well. I had all the same test you did and finally my doctor gave me clomid which apparently was all i needed to finally concieve. I got pregnant 3wks after taking the medication. I had a little girl in aug 2011 which i named Gianna! I have always loved that name. Im small like you and when i got pregnant i was dreading getting stretch marks, but luckily with the help of cocoa butter and maintaining a steady weight gain, mind you i was still working out till i was 7mo along, i didnt get any stretch marks at all! so products definitely help! I wish you nothing but the best in your journey into motherhood!
ReplyDeletep.s. i also call my self a "milf" ;)
Hey Jen congrats first off I wanted to know if one of the reason's why it was hard for you to get pregnant was because your period wasn't regular? I also don't have a regular period and me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant for awhile now and nothing has happened so far.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Melanie H.
Hi Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to congratulate you with your happy news! :) Bringing a child into the world (after having waited so long/leaving it to God) is an incredible experience. Yay!
Also, I'm a new reader and want to tell you that I find you so incredibly humble! I admire your efforts of interacting with your readers and wanted to thank you! Please continue to write as I enjoy reading your views!
Thanks again,
Jen
Conratulations to you & Alki!
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for an Au Pair in future, please feel free and massage me! Haha.
I am from Germany and want to become an Au Pair next year in the United States.
Best wishes,

Hey Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteI follow you right from the other side of the planet... a girl from Madrid totally hooked to your videos and blog! I think you are pure authenticity, honesty and a real beauty. Can't get tired of watching you girl!
These are really happy news and I am not the writtingcommentsinablog kind of person but of course couldn't miss this! I am truly touched and happy for you. It's kind of funny how you end up connecting a tiny bit of your hart with people you follow on the other side of your computer... so since you share so much with all of us and you enlight so many of my days with your beauty tricks and your amazing self, I've decided to share many positive vibes with you and your future baby.
Hopefully I will be a mother someday in the future too :-)... been a bit sick myself and the Lord's decided to put some hardship in my way so concieving will be a bit complicated (specially if I don't want my baby to inherit my disease I'll have to do some genetic selection to make sure I have a healthy baby that doesn't suffer my problems). What I'll remember is to be as stubborn as you and Alki.
That sunshine you carry within you girl is contagious! Keep spreading it!
Congratulations, Jennifer! So happy for you :)))
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for sharing and recommending your products pictures, I went ahead and bought a few of them already.
The only thing I would suggest differently is using a toothpaste without fluoride, and Tom's contains it.
Fluoride gets accumulated in the pineal gland of the brain, which among many significant things is where the human spirituality center is located. Is gets through the gums and the cheeks, from the toothpaste.
I found our about that recently, and bought one from Wholefoods again, called Xyli White. Will let u know how I like it.
If you're interested in finding out more on the topic, you can read here:

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this amazing time in your life....I feel like I've gotten to know you through following your blogs and posts over the past few months. I'm really impressed that you're taking such an active role in your pregnancy (understanding all the medical tests...and seeking healthy alternatives in your skin/hair routine for the sake of your baby) I think you will make an Excellent mom and your child will be blessed to have two parents who will love him/her and who love one another as much as you and Alki do! Thanks for proving true love still does exist. looking forward to seeing more of the baby bump! Congratulations!!!!
